It seems only yesterday I was part of a small yet ambitious team at Google with a common goal: “unleashing the power of web-scale analytics for regular companies without the need to build or manage their own massive data centers.” And yet, here we are, celebrating the 10th anniversary of a ubiquitous platform that does just that.
Born from a vision to move beyond endless racks of hardware into a new world of cloud-based analytics, a “science experiment” codenamed BigQuery emerged from Google to become the market-defining enterprise data warehouse (EDW) it is today. I couldn’t be more proud of how far BigQuery has come, and can’t wait to see what the next 10 years have in store.
